• In the PromptTech's application installed folder, locate the application.exe CONFIG file.
  • Open the CONFIG file in NotePad editor.
  • Then scroll down to locate <add key="DB" or use hotkey combination ctrl + F to find "DB" in the config file.
  • Next to the "DB" value, you can identify whether your database is "Local" or "Server". (by default the DB value is Local)

Note: It is important to enter the DB value as Local or Server with upper case L in Local and Uppercase S in Server. Failing to do so will result in a database disconnection.

The major difference between the Local database and Server database is the location of the database.

Local Database:

If the DB value is Local, then PromptTech's application establishes a connection with the database available in the application installed folder.

Server Database:

If the DB value is Server, then PromptTech's application establishes a connection with the database available in the installed SQL server instance Data folder (This folder can be in the local system, network system, cloud system or a cloud SQL server).
